Birthplace of Phanishwar Nath Renu (4th March 1921-11th April 1977) - the doyen of Hindi literature – this village is home too much of the region’s culture pain and tribulations. The strife of the Kosi belt has been succinctly depicted in the works that Renu penned here, incorporating in his narratives the unique flavor of the land, its distinctive culture and lifestyle.
