Shab-e-Barat or Barat Night is a holiday celebrated by followers of Islam on the 15th night of the month of Sha’ban.
Sha’ban is the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. On the 15th night of this month, Muslims celebrate Shab-e-Barat to commemorate the entry of Muhammad into the city of Mecca. Shab-e-Barat means the “ night of forgiveness” or “day of atonement.” It is believed that on this night Allah frees His sinful servants. This occasion is celebrated with great reverence, pomp and gaiety.
